Job description

CGC Recruitment are working with a key existing client who are a Tier 1 Contractor focusing on the delivery of complex multidisciplinary projects geared towards Rail, Roads, Resources and Defence projects. They are at the forefront of the infrastructure boom in SE QLD and are currently delivering a complex Brownfield project that will change the landscape of travel in Brisbane. 
 
They have identified a critical requirement for an Area Manager to join the business on a full time basis. The scope you will be in charge of is the Civil & structures work which includes; excavation, bored & driven piles, FRP works, ancillary structures etc.Reporting to the Construction Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Planning, maintaining, coordinating and monitoring construction programs and completion of activities involved in Project/s, and communicating on same with relevant stakeholders
  • Preparing work packages, documentation and quality requirements for tender by potential subcontractors
  • Evaluating subcontractors to ensure capacity and capability to carry out the work
  • Informing the Project Manager on any significant SH&E, quality or other difficulties which will impact Project delivery or community relations and taking appropriate action to rectify
  • Ensure that requirements of the Management System are implemented – especially use of process control plans, auditing of Supplier / Subcontractors and Management of Deficiencies in the works
  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and cost to complete and processing of subcontractor and supplier progress claims
  • Plan and coordinate all construction activities on the site in consultation with the Superintendent.
  • Review documentation to and from the client, subcontractors and suppliers and assist in the preparation of response documentation as required.
  • Manage the overall performance of project works
Minimum requirements for this role include the following:
  • Tertiary Qualification in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Previous experience at an Area Manager level managing major packages on large scale building or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated commercial experience relating to planning up to 3 months ahead, development of implementation of risk treatment plans and reporting on cost, risk etc
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully and autonomously within a fast paced project environment and deliver on deadlines
  • Hold proven verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders
