Civils Superintendent – Civil & Mining Contractor
Overview:
Our client is a privately owned contractor who specialise in large-scale civil and mining construction projects working for clients in the iron ore industry. The WA business is privately owned and undergoing a period of growth. Due to recent tender success they are now looking for a Superintendent or Senior Supervisor to lead a team of 30 across all civil construction activities on a mine camp expansion project for a tier one mining client.
As the Civils Superintendent, you will play a key leadership role in managing and overseeing the civil construction aspects of the project, ensuring that works are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead a skilled team including x2 supervisors, operators and tradespeople, working closely with project management to deliver complex, large-scale civil works, including site preparation, earthworks, drainage, roads, and other site infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Lead and supervise a team of civil crews, contractors, and subcontractors to deliver civil works on schedule and within budget.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate all civil activities on-site, ensuring alignment with project timelines, scope, and quality specifications.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a strong focus on site safety, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all civil works are completed to the highest industry standards, including quality control and regular inspections.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for civil works, liaising with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide updates and resolve any issues.
- Problem Solving: Identify and address issues on-site, making real-time decisions to keep the project moving forward.
- Resource Management: Oversee resource allocation, equipment, and material requirements for the civil works component of the project.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualifications: Section 26 and Rio Tinto site inductions (desirable).
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Civil Superintendent or Supervisor within the mining, construction, or infrastructure sectors, with a focus on large-scale civil works including bulk earthworks.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working on iron ore, mining, or other heavy industrial projects is highly desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and motivate large teams, with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Safety-Focused: Strong understanding of safety management and regulations within the mining and construction sectors.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with civil engineering design, project management software, and scheduling tools.
