Job description
Our client is a State-Owned organisation who is the owner of an extensive portfolio of railway network assets across NSW, including tracks, trains, stations, and significant land holdings around stations such as retail spaces.
The Opportunity:
The role provides advice on a range of property and general commercial matters across the organisation to ensure compliance with relevant frameworks and legislation and address legal risk.
Key accountabilities:
• Assist with development and provision of complex legal advice and services on commercial and property issues to ensure legal compliance with organisational, government and legislative requirements.
• Manage the organisation’s compliance with administrative law requirements, including complying with applications made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and ‘orders for papers’ made by the Legislative Council under Standing Order 52.
• Providing external legal advice including engagement and performance within time, cost and quality requirements to deliver expert advice on matters with significant complexity within organisational and commercial parameters.
• Initiate and provide legal research and analysis on contentious legal issues to support core objectives and manage a diverse portfolio of matters whilst exercising effective stakeholder management.
• Draft high quality, clear and concise legal documents including legal instruments, advice and documents to achieve high quality outcomes and enable effective decision making to challenging issues

Key knowledge and experience:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience a similar role
