Job description

Our client is leading Australia’s biggest public transport infrastructure program, developing and delivering a new world-class metro railway system for Sydney. They are currently seeking Surveillance Officers experienced in Civil works for contract roles until April 2024. These roles are working for Sydney Metro at $900 per day + super.

The role manages routine and specialist surveillance activities and assists in complex surveillance activities on nominated contract works for the administration of maintenance and construction works to ensure delivery in accordance with client time, quality and scope requirements. 

Key accountabilities
  • Provide a specialist, non-routine surveillance capability in support of Agency works to verify that work has been performed in accordance with applicable standards, specifications and processes.
  • Monitor, support and influence development partner progress against agreed milestones and deliverables to support the Agency’s program of work.
  • As required, coach and mentor less experienced Surveillance Officers, engineering and project staff to reinforce best-practice surveillance and project practices within their sphere of influence.
  • Act as a source of technical advice for trades, engineering and project staff within their area of specialisation in order to build capability and improve project and/ or maintenance outcomes.
  • Exercise Agency Delegations on site with significant autonomy and limited reach back in order to represent the needs of the Agency to delivery partners and provide in situ Agency support to delivery partners.
  • Anticipate technical issues and escalate these issues to project and contract engineers and/ or managers as required, in order to support best practice project/ contract management and works delivery.
Key Knowledge and Experience
  • Extensive experience with technologies, practices and processes of civil construction and maintenance works in a highly specialised field relevant to Agency works.
  • Demonstrated highly advanced knowledge of, and experience in applying the standards, policies and codes of practice applicable to the conduct of civil construction and maintenance works in a highly specialized field relevant to Agency works.
  • Demonstrated ability to source, analyse, interpret and contribute to project, construction and contract documentation in a complex, specialized field.
  • Extensive experience in best-practice record keeping and document management in a construction or maintenance environment.
Essential requirements
  • Advanced Trade qualifications and current licenses/ tickets in a highly specialised field relevant to Agency works
