About the Role:

A leading multi-disciplinary Architectural studio is seeking a Senior Urban Designer with 8+ years of experience to join their Sydney studio. Reporting to the Principal Urban Designer, the successful candidate will work on transport-focused urban design projects, collaborating with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver meaningful place outcomes. The role involves leading urban design initiatives, shaping the built environment, and contributing to the strategic development of master plans, precincts, and public spaces.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage urban design projects from concept to completion.
  • Develop strategic master plans, site planning, and urban frameworks.
  • Collaborate with architects, planners, landscape architects, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and urban design research.
  • Prepare high-quality presentations, reports, diagrams, and 3D visualizations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers and urban planners.
  • Engage with clients, government agencies, and the community to present design concepts and gain approvals.
  • Stay up-to-date with urban design trends, policies, and sustainability practices.
About You:
  • Master’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture.
  • Proven experience in urban design, stakeholder engagement, and project management.
  • Strong design thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and GIS (CAD & Revit a plus).
  • Experience with TfNSW urban design reports (LCVIAs, UDLP/PDLPs) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in large-scale master planning, urban regeneration, and infrastructure-led development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage project timelines and budgets.
  • Knowledge of local planning regulations, zoning codes, and sustainability principles.
