A highly experienced and capable Signalling Project Engineer is required by one of, if not Australia’s leading main contractor. They have a huge pipeline of work in the state and are key players on many high-profile infrastructure projects.
  
This is a critical position and will utilise your skills across the company’s major rail projects and tenders in Sydney.
  
Key Position:
  
The coordination of engineering functions for allocated projects, to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient technical support for signal engineering activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme workloads and provide technical guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
  • Accurate forecasts of costs and revenue and utilise corrective action in line with JH’s authority and reporting frameworks to maximise the profit margin
  • Establishing and developing a high-performance team to ensure the project achieves targets
  • Ensuring strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of costs and revenue and taking corrective action as required
  • Ensuring HSE requirements and risk controls are considered in all construction planning and processes
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated rail signalling site based experience with a minimum 5 years project experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of NSW based signalling requirements
  • Understanding of contemporary practices in construction methodology on multi-disciplinary civil infrastructure projects
  • Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance management
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Diploma of Project Management in Engineering
  • Graduate Diploma of Railway Signalling and Telecommunication is desirable
  • Accreditation with a NSW based Rail Operator

As a Senior Project Engineer, your main duties and responsibilities are as follows:
  
  • Play a key role in the tendering, management and delivery of rail infrastructure projects
  • Develop and foster a culture of OH&S and rail safety within this highly regulated market
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and project partners
  • Tendering, cost estimate and development of project delivery methodologies
  • Management and monitoring of project delivery in accordance with the company’s Quality Assurance and Controlling system
  • Maintenance of appropriate communications between the various functions/divisions
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Management, Environmental Management Regulations
  • Develop and implement innovative delivery methodologies in line with the company’s strategies and senior management’s directions
  
Basic Requirements:
  • Degree or similar in a relevant Engineering discipline. I.e. Civil / Mechanical / Railway
  • Proven Project Engineering experience on railway projects
  • Experience working for a main or sub-contractor
  • Strong understanding of the railway sector, ideally track / perway
  • Project Management qualifications helpful but not essential

Duties & Responsibilities:
  
  • Design Management, delivering projects to clients' satisfaction at the appropriate standard
  • Deliver projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations
  • Manage the preparation of civil engineering deliverables, bringing together the contributions from other specialist areas of the business.
  • Ensuring accuracy of drawings and calculations
  • Ensuring designs are economic and appropriate and that the relevant codes and standards are complied with

  • Guide and teach Engineers
  
Requirements:
  • 10-15 years' experience specialising in the rail industry,
  • Highly experienced in rail infrastructure, undergrounds and/or metro / light rail networks
  • Ideally your technical skills will include experience in the design of depots and/or stations
  • BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Experience of brownfield rail corridors, stations and/or depot design.
  • Experience of working on design of large infrastructure projects within Rail sector

The main scope of works for the position will involve construction of In-ground services, ground works, structural steel, cladding, roofing, HV, LV, comms, lifts, station building strip out and platform resurfacing. Reporting into senior management you will be responsible for management of multi-disciplinary subcontractors, Identifying procurement plans and management of resources, developing Project Management Plans, Safety Plans, Environmental Plans and Quality Plans. You will be additional be responsible for Interfacing with key stakeholders Transport, Sydney Trains, Local authority’s etc.

This role is an initial 6 month contract with a possibility of contract extension and will join the project during a critical stage of construction. Applicants should be available to both interview and start immediately.
