Project:
Involves standardising and upgrading the 1055 km of rail track and associated civil structures which will deliver important upgrades to Victoria's rail freight network to meet the increasing demand for freight services throughout the region.
 
Specifically, it involves converting the track gauge from broad (1600 mm) to standard (1435 mm) on the following sections and increasing the allowable train axle loading (TAL) from 19 to 21 tonnes.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications
  • Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports
  • Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Project Manager
  • Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects
  • Contribute to improvements to existing designs
  • Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders
  • Assign work and assist with review for accuracy and adherence to required standards
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes

Senior Systems & Safety Assurance Engineer to join the dedicated SESA team, offering clients the full spectrum of consulting services.
 
The rail team are currently engaged in various Sydney Metro and Melbourne packages, Light Rail in NSW and ACT and a number of high profile rail stations.

The Senior Systems & Safety Assurance Engineer will cover works associated with systems engineering, such as requirements engineering, verification and validation, system integration, interface management and system architecture development.

Responsibilities: 

  • Input to the safety assurance process and eliciting input from safety assurance engineers
  • Executing responsibilities as outline in the Quality Management System
  • Managing your own workload, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Liaise and develop sound relationships with clients, industry networks, government agencies, sub-consultants and external stakeholders relevant to the Rail group’s activities
  • Provide technical design input at a senior level in generating innovative and cost-effective solutions for clients
  • Development of junior engineers in the systems engineering field

Requirements 

  • Degree in a relevant field of engineering (preferably Masters in Systems Engineering or equivalent or has attained INCOSE CSEP)
  • Demonstrated competency in the delivery of the following systems engineering areas (preferably in the rail environment)
  • Requirements Definition and Analysis (including the production of BRS, SRS and RVTM) - System Architecture (including UML/SysML) - Systems Integration - Interface Management - Verification and Validation
  • Demonstrated experience with IBM Rational DOORS
  • Familiar with the system lifecycle stages and its impacts on systems engineering activities
  • Understanding of ISO 15288 and ISO 29148

  • You will have significant experience in delivering multi-disciplinary rail related projects

  • Supporting and engaging in design reviews and HAZOP studies
  • You will hold budgetary control, forecasting project expenditure and programme performance, whilst ensuring effective delivery. Responsible and accountable for the delivery of project on time and budget
  • Experience with programming (i.e. Primavera, MS project etc.) and program control systems
  • Identifying and acquiring necessary project resources, managing staff forecast
  • Manage Subcontractors and Suppliers on the project where appropriate and ensure the relevant form of subcontract is used and complied with
  • High level of commercial awareness
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business and forming strong client relationships including an ability to deal directly with clients
  • A proven ability of managing and growing a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain a highly motivated project delivery team
 
Requirements:
