Welcome to the first CGC newsletter of 2018!! Firstly, we’d like to wish all of our followers a very Happy New Year. We hope that you had an enjoyable break and that the batteries are recharged for the year ahead.

Firstly we would like to extend a warm welcome to two new starters here at CGC.

Rodney Habashi has joined the construction team working alongside Billy, Tom, Matt, John and Carmel.

Danyelle Hines has joined the office support team working alongside Jaymie supporting our engineering, property and architecture clients.

In this edition, Hollie Burt will give us an update on the Building Services market in Sydney and Nic Maplestone will cover off the CGC social.

As 2018 gets underway we are pleased to hear that the market is as busy as ever and with no signs of slowing down. Clients across the board are eager to continue the growth they experienced in 2017 and the Festive break is becoming a distant memory. In the Building Services team we have already seen a number of new vacancies arise with our clients and we are actively looking to speak to professionals with experience working in the consultancy space.

If you are looking for either a contract or permanent position in the Revit MEP space, please get in contact with Hollie Burt 0456945633

If you are looking for positions as an Engineer in Building Services, please contact Martin Smallshaw on 0478699630

Industry News:

Today I wanted to highlight one of this year’s first big contract wins. The developers have now been awarded for the Final Piece of Sydney’s Iconic Barangaroo project.
A consortium led by Grocon in partnership with Aqualand and Scentre Group has been selected by the Barangaroo Delivery Authority to design, develop and deliver Central Barangaroo. Once complete this will see the transformation of one of Sydney’s last prime waterfront locations into one of the world’s longest and most beautiful continuous urban waterfront walks.
Barangaroo has been up there as the most Iconic and exciting urban renewable projects ever seen in Australia and has been recognised globally for its innovative and forward-thinking concepts which has led to it being seen as a World Leading project in sustainably as it aims to be the first precinct of its size in the world to be climate positive.

The NSW Government chose the consortium to create and deliver commercial, retail, residential, public and cultural facilities. In a unique collaboration, established businesses Grocon, Aqualand and Scentre Group have combined their proven expertise in urban development, residential, commercial and retail experiences. The consortium beats bids from Barangaroo South Developer Lendlease and Australian Developer Mirvac.

Grocon’s Executive Chairman, Daniel Grollo Said “Grocon has brought together an outstanding group of consortium partners who share a vision to combine civic and cultural attractions with recreational, residential, retail and commercial spaces. The creation of a unifying place between Barangaroo Reserve and Barangaroo South will lay the foundations and shape the city’s future.”
I am excited to see this project grow and with that the opportunities that come with it, it is expected to house around 23,000 workers and residents and increase daily visitors to the area by the thousands.

CGC Social

Now we’re into the new year, there’s been plenty happening in the CGC social calendar.

Firstly on behalf of all the CGC team we would like to congratulate Nick & Sammi on the birth of their baby girl Stella!

Elsewhere #Steaklover Steve Morris and new wife Hannah have been living it up on their #megamoon travelling to South Africa, Singapore, Dubai and the Maldives. Looks like they both had an amazing time travelling the globe together, even managing to see the #rhino #rhinos and #rhinoceros’ during their safari trip! If you don’t follow Steve on social media then you’re missing out on some top quality hashtags!

The new CGC FIFA league is also up and running. A shock result in round 1 already with Will taking 3 points off Hopey was then followed by an absolute meltdown from Evan Morgans after receiving a 5-0 drumming from John. Morgan’s has recently been allowed back in the Whatsapp group…

After a few well deserved weeks off over the Christmas and New Years period, the CGC fitness is now back in full flow with “annihilation training” being the preferred method of choice to lose a few Christmas kilos! Tuesday bootcamps have been moved to a new day and location, the Intercontinental Hotel on Thursday’s which is a great opportunity for the team to sweat out some of the alcohol consumed over the festive period!

A number of work anniversaries in January, with congratulations to Dan (3), Jaymie (1), Hopey (6), Stewart (1) and Aldo (1). January has also been a big month of birthdays within the office with Jess, Hollie, Steve, Jamie, Christina and John celebrating.
